F4ESL

F4ESL is a transfer of innovation project under LLP Leonardo da Vinci Program targeting to develop an e-learning training on EU Food Safety Legislation. It is transferred from SK/01/B/F/PP-142 243 - Online Distance Learning Module in European Agrarian Law by The Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra.

EU authorities address the “farm-to-fork” approach by giving priority to consumer demand and the right to access to safe and quality food. To achieve this, an efficient and effective food control system along the food chain should be established and implemented. At this point, Food Safety Legislation becomes very important to obtain food safety.

F4ESL - From Farm to Fork European Food Safety Legislation Training Programme is an innovative and integrated online training programme on EU Food Safety Legislation ensuring vocational education for stakeholders of food chain via newest learning methods, and is going to be piloted across all European countries in 2 sessions, in 2011.

Aim: F4ESL aims to fill the legislation gaps for each profession working in food sector with a common “from farm to fork” food safety approach covering all related EU regulations. Since it is difficult to read and comprehend all the legislations; simple and comprehensible language will be used in the F4ESL training, besides case studies about regulations to make them easier to understand.

Curriculum: The training program will be developed by a Pan European committee of professionals as to bring about a state of the art curriculum which consists of 5 modules: Introduction, Legislation on product, Legislation on process, Labeling, and Public Powers.

Five European member countries and a candidate country participated in this project to share their knowledge and experiences on food safety legislation and e-learning technology. To reward their endeavor the EU decided to fund the project through the Lifelong Learning Program (LLP) “Leonardo da Vinci” (2009-1– TR1–LEO05-08647).
