F4ESL Project Teaches EU Food Safety Legislation

F4ESL, From Farm to Fork European Food Safety Legislation Project awarded its graduates with a certificate ceremony on 7th October 2011. The project partners, leading representatives of food sector, successful F4ESL trainees –not only from Turkey but also from Spain, Greece, Bulgaria, Bosnia Herzegovina, and United Arab Emirates- attended to the Ceremony. The Project Coordinator, Samim Saner gave the opening speech and said: “F4ESL training program is a first within its scope with its holistic “From Farm to Fork approach” and provided a unique education opportunity for more than 2026 people from 55 different countries”
 
 After the introduction speeches; with the attendance of leading names of the food sector, a Food Safety Legislation Seminar was held. Turkish Food Legislation, EU Harmonisation Period and International Bindingness, and also the Importance of Food Legislation on Food Sector were touched upon.
 
Compliments for F4ESL
 
Necdet BUZBAS, the chairman of the Food Employers' Union of Turkey (TUGİS), mentioned about the importance of food legislation for the food sector and emphasized the importance of  F4ESL project is in this context.
 
The Chairman of the Chamber of Food Engineers, Petek ATAMAN gave information about Turkish Food Legislation, EU Harmonisation Period and International Bindingness. She shared her happiness about being a part of this project, coordinated by Kalite Sistem Group.
 
In the ceremony, the most successful trainees from Turkey, Spain, Greece, Bulgaria, and Bosnia Herzegovina made speeches about their feelings and comments on F4ESL training. They stated that F4ESL training filled the gaps of their food safety legislation knowledge and tendered special thanks to project team for giving opportunity to take part in this e-learning course.
 
What is F4ESL?
 
F4ESL, From Farm to Fork European Food Safety Legislation is a Transfer of Innovation project under LLP Leonardo da Vinci Program. It is an innovative and integrated online training programme on EU Food Safety Legislation ensuring vocational education for stakeholders of food chain via newest learning methods. F4ESL project aims to fill the legislation knowledge gaps for each profession working in food sector with a common “from farm to fork” food safety approach covering all related EU regulations.
 
Food producers and processors, official controllers/inspectors, members of unions, chambers and associations related with food and food safety, local bodies, importers & exporters, university and graduate students from relevant departments like food engineering, agricultural engineering, veterinary surgery, chemical engineering, chemistry etc. benefited from F4ESL training program free of charge. For the pilot sessions, 2026 applications received from 55 different countries and the training was given in three languages: English, Turkish and Bulgarian.
 
11 organizations from Turkey and five EU member countries participated in this project to share their knowledge and experience on food safety legislation and e-learning technology. The curriculum of the training program consisting 5 modules and 35 lectures, was prepared in 3 different languages (English, Bulgarian and Turkish) by a committee of professionals.
 
The main goal of the project is to give a holistic “farm to fork” food legislation point of view to all stakeholders working in the food sector. In the forthcoming months, F4ESL training is expected to be commercialized and draw more attention of the sector.
